River Garden Apartments II

In an effort to address the need for quality affordable housing in New Orleans, HRI developed the River Garden Apartments project, the first mixed-use/mixed-finance property in New Orleans. Completed in 2009, the River Garden Community includes 773 housing units, developed in four phases. For over 15 years, the River Garden project has stood as an example of the success of public-private partnerships in delivering positive social and economic outcomes for New Orleans communities. Now, HRI Communities is seeking to reaffirm its commitment to serving the community through the redevelopment of River Garden Apartments II. The project will include the substantial rehabilitation and modernization of the 310-unit River Garden Apartments II complex in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans. Amenities at River Garden Apartments II will include three hundred and eighty-nine (389) secure, off-street parking spaces; energy-efficient in-unit washers, dryers, and dishwashers; development Wi-Fi Energy Star-rated kitchen appliances; fortified roofs, doors, and windows for storm resiliency; security monitoring; a courtyard with seating; a computer center; and a community center. This redevelopment will provide for the preservation and long-term sustainability of this important, mixed-income community in New Orleans’ Lower Garden District River Garden community.
