HRI Properties, LLC (HRIP) today announced its new project for dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels in Tampa, which are expected to begin construction in November 2018. This development opportunity was initiated by the City of Tampa through a competitive RFP and is expected to open in late 2020. The project will consist of a combined new 17-story, 230-room Hyatt Place hotel and a 115-room Hyatt House hotel, with approximately 4,000 square feet of meeting space, 3,200 square feet of ground floor retail space and a fully integrated 220-space public parking garage.
The project site is located directly across the street from City Hall and provides connectivity between downtown Tampa and neighboring Riverwalk attractions, such as the Tampa Convention Center, The Florida Aquarium, Amalie Arena, and more. The project will create a cosmopolitan experience for guests showcasing the spirit of the city with a relaxed, locally-inspired design reflecting the charm and character of downtown Tampa. The site provides exceptional walkability, a bike lane accessible to all downtown residents and is also conveniently located next to the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority’s service lines.
“HRI Properties is honored to collaborate with the City of Tampa on the dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels,” said A. Thomas Leonhard, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of HRIP. “The project will be a great addition to Tampa’s central business district —creating 110 full-time positions and helping attract new business and leisure visitors to the local area. HRI is excited to introduce the first dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels to the downtown Tampa market. We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this project and look forward to see the positive contribution it will make to the city.”
