The Union Lofts are 33 trendy and unique apartments located in the
heart of downtown New Orleans. The development is the result of the
complete renovation of the historic Western Union Telegraph
Building, which was built in 1927.
The apartments are quite spacious, as each utilizes a unique
sliding screen system to separate and delineate the bedroom. The
wood and translucent panels allow for filtered, borrowed light to
penetrate. The system is enhanced by the use of stained black
polished concrete floors, white laminate kitchen and bathroom
millwork and black/brown granite countertops.
All 33 apartments are fully furnished with classic modern iconic
pieces by such renowned architects/designers as Le Corbusier, Isamu
Noguchi, Harry Bertoia, Eero Saarinen, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel
Breuer. Additionally, each apartment includes a 37" flat LCD screen
TV, platform bed with cantilevered nightstands and individualized
artwork.
The Union Lofts was designed and developed by Wisznia Associates,
an architectrual and interior design firm founded in 1948 and
practicing in New Orleans since 1973. The firm is headed by Marcel
Wisznia.
