Experience
Joshua D.
Collen is Vice President of Development for HRI Properties (HRI), a
premier national real estate company specializing in large-scale
urban development of hotels, apartments and other commercial uses,
including the adaptive re-use of historic properties.
Mr. Collen
serves as a development project manager responsible for the
development process from project conception through construction
completion and stabilization. He leads a development production
team including two other development project managers, Chris
Clement and Kirsten Vaselaar. The production team focuses on
developments that contain a residential component and are
frequently mixed-use and/or mixed-income in
nature.
Since his
joining HRI in 2006, the production team of Mr. Collen, Mr. Clement
and Ms. Vaselaar have overseen eighteen large-scale development
projects totaling over 1,550 apartments, 186 hotel rooms, and
75,000 square feet of commercial space with a combined total
development cost of $474 million.
Mr.
Collen’s previous employers include the Richman Group of Companies,
the Michaels Development Company, the Community Preservation and
Development Corporation and the AFL-CIO Housing and Building
Investment Trusts.
Mr. Collen
received a Master of City and Regional Planning degree from Cornell
University in 1998 and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Regional
Planning from the University of Illinois – Champaign-Urbana in
1996.
